SATURDAY FLASHBACK: This week’s archive binge: new chapters posted four years ago this month. Check it out! The next update is 21 December, and if you’ve got a story in the works related to the holidays I’d love to share it then.

Most of the stories I write are set by default in my home country, the United States, and many of the stories submitted to Metabods are situated here as well, though that’s been less and less predictably the case over the years. (I should do one of those maps by IP address and see where all the site visitors are coming from.) In the wake of the very American Thanksgiving holiday we just celebrated here, I thought I’d make today’s archive binge a selection of stories where the action isn’t automatically taking place in the land of baseball, apple pie, and Manifest Destiny. It doesn’t hurt that we Americans, parochial as we often are, tend to lust after the exotic, making the men of foreign climes potentially extra-special in all the ways Metabods loves to celebrate.

Stars or thumbs: The final results of the stars or thumbs Twitter poll were 2 to 1 for switching from stars to a thumbs up, with 71 votes cast. The tally on the Patreon poll was 7 to 1 for thumbs-up voting, with 16 votes cast. There were also some interesting comments going both ways, and some useful suggestions. I’m taking this as it being reasonable for me to go ahead and do this if I choose to, but there are flaws in both approaches that I’m aware of and that I’ll need to consider before proceeding. Thank you very much to everyone who voted—as always I truly appreciate the feedback on the site.

Last week I goofed and said the next update, which is on the 23rd, would be Thanksgiving weekend.
