Weekly Update: 18 December 2021

This week sees a return visit to the Patreoncommissioned “One Hot Summer” to check on the aftermath of the chaotic growth outbreak at Mike’s Fourth of July party. Plus lots more good stuff, so peruse the offerings and make sure to comment and star-upvote the stories you like.

The Friday Flashback theme this week was Cute ’n Nerdy—take a look at that if you missed it. Next week there will indeed be an update, and I’d be thrilled to get a stack of holiday-themed stories to post on the 25th itself. If you’ve got a story in mind, or one already written, by all means send it along, and you’ll have my thanks and gratitude. In the meantime, thanks for visiting and enjoy the site!

This week’s new stuff:

Friday Flashback: Cute ‘n Nerdy

For this week’s compilation of creatively cupidinous curios from our copious collection, I’ve brought together ten stories featuring guys who are cute ‘n nerdy. Sometimes they stay that way, sometimes they hunk up, and sometimes they do both.

The next update is tomorrow, 18 December. In the meantime, have fun exploring the archives, and thanks for visiting the site.

This week’s flashback:

Weekly Update: 11 December 2021

This week I had a strange impulse to return to the wandering-finger detective story I started during the summer, “An Air of Detachment,” and that’s the kind of story you need to work on when the mood strikes. I hope there are at least a few of you out there who dig it to, and if not there’s other good stuff down there as well.

Special thanks to my beloved Patreonites, to whom I am humbly grateful for making possible my weekly BRKness. If you think you might want to get in on the act, you can explore my Patreon page at your leisure. Friday’s Flashback revisited stories posted or updated in December 2016, so check that out of you missed it.

The next update will be a week hence on 18 December; and, yes, there will be an update on Christmas Day that will include a holiday-themed story from me. If any of you have a holiday-themed story written or brewing, by all means send it in—I’d love to pack that update with lots of holiday cheer. In the meantime, thanks for visiting, and enjoy the site!

This week’s new stuff:

Friday Flashback: December 2016

For this week’s dash through the delicious detritus of our devotedly disseminated discourses, I’ve collected ten stories posted or updated during the month of December 2016. To say “a lot has happened since then” feels like the king of understatements, but as times change it’s easier to see how small and transient a span of half a decade is in the grand scheme of things. The posts that month are a diverse mix of genres and styles, so I hope you find something to enjoy. Even on archived stories feedback is still welcome.

The next update is tomorrow, 11 December. In the meantime, have fun exploring the archives, and thanks for visiting the site.

This week’s flashback:

Weekly Update: 4 December 2021

Welcome to Vignette Party #12! I’ve got four stories for this week’s update prompted by my suggestion-level Patreonites—three new scenes plus a new chapter of “Tell Me About My Boner”. Not to mention lots of other great stuff. Hope you find something you like.

The Friday Flashback this week was a collection of past VP entries, so check that out of you missed it. My humble gratitude to all my Patreon supporters at all levels—you are a part of making this possible every week, and I am immensely appreciative. The next update is a week hence on 11 December, and in the meantime, thanks for visiting, folks, and enjoy the site.

Friday Flashback: Past Vignettes

For this week’s flashback, with the twelfth consecutive Vignette Party coming tomorrow I decided to commemorate Vignette Parties past by surfacing ten one-off stories suggested for these one-scene-story events by my noble and sexy Patreonites. Hopefully there’s something for you to enjoy.

The next update is tomorrow, 4 December, and it is indeed a new occurrence of that selfsame brief-tale festival (possibly but not necessarily involving briefs). Plus lots of other stuff as well. In the meantime, have fun exploring the archives, and thanks for visiting the site.

This week’s flashback:

Weekly Update: 27 November 2021

This week’s update has a mix of new and returning writers, always great to see, and it’s led off by a return to the Patreon-commissioned story “One Hot Summer”. I wanted to write about people gathering for a feast this week, and rather than force one of my other stories into Thanksgiving mode I realized that “OHS” was on the verge of the Fourth of July in-story—and of course they would have to have an all-hands cookout where things got (as my commissioner requested for this installment) a little out of hand. Hope you enjoy, and as always make sure to comment and star-vote the stories you like, as that helps the writers know what works and what people want to see more of.

Up next is the latest Vignette Party where suggestion-level Patreonites get to prompt one-scene stories. It’s one of my favorite things because of the way I end up going places I might not have planned on going, so if you’re on my Patreon make sure to DM me with what you’d like to see—and if you’re not and want to get in on the action, here’s the link to find out more.

This week’s Friday Flashback collected stories where people eat a meal together (under various circumstances), so check that out if you missed it. The next update is the Vignette Party, which is a week hence on 4 December. In the meantime, thanks for visiting, enjoy the site, and if you’re visiting kith or kin, safe travels home!

This week’s new stuff:

Friday Flashback: Breaking Bread

For this week’s thinly thought-out thumbtack on which to hang a thatch of thoroughly thirsty thrills, I’ve collected ten random stories that have people sharing a meal together. Safe travels to those celebrating Thanksgiving this week.

The next update will be tomorrow, 27 November. In the meantime, have fun exploring the archives, and thanks for visiting the site.

This week’s flashback:

Weekly Update: 20 November 2021

Another largish and pleasingly variegated update this week, led off by a beefy new installment in the Patreon-commissioned story “Resolutions”. Hope you find something great to enjoy.

The Friday Flashback this week was another installment of the Unsurfaced where I once again use my SQL skills to collect good stories from way back in the archive that haven’t appeared in a Flashback. Check that out if you haven’t already. In two weeks I’ll be having another Vignette Party (one-scene stories prompted by my patrons), so anyone at the suggestion level on my Patreon should DM with their requests—and if you want to get in on the action, here’s the link to explore joining my friendly and valued Patreonite crew.

The next update is a week hence on 27 November. In the meantime, thanks for visiting, and enjoy the site!

This week’s new stuff:

Friday Flashback: The Unsurfaced, Part 2: The Unsurfacing

For this week’s flashback I’m doing another round of The Unsurfaced where I collect stories with good views and votes that haven’t previously been featured in a flashback post. The rules are the same as last time: the story has to be at least six years old; it has to come from the middle third of the archive in terms of story views; and it has to have a ranking of four or more stars from five or more votes.

This time around I refined the SQL code to get a more accurate reflection of these criteria and ended up with an interesting selection, including some I’m surprised haven’t been surfaced before. Hopefully you’ll find something to enjoy, and as always make sure to star-upvote and comment on the stories you like.

The next update is tomorrow, 20 November. In the meantime, have fun exploring the archives, and thanks for visiting the site.
